Sandy,
Great news...the girls have been doing so well!!! We did step 9 today and both of the girls were able to blend the words ie. (Sam, Pam, on, is, pot)! Tylie read the words with no hesitation. Zoe is blending most of them as well! I am so proud of them and the progress they continue to make.
I also wanted to let you know that I have been incorporating "Magic Penny" into my sessions with a little boy who presents with auditory listening difficulties, following directions, speech production delay, and a expressive language delay. Your program has done wonders for him. He just read Pam and Sam book and answered all comprehension questions correctly! Magic Penny has enabled me to target all of his speech goals and teach him to read as well. His biggest accomplishment is the increase in his self confidence and willingness to learn!

My son is in his second year of Magic Penny as a kindergarten student at Spruce School in North Tonawanda. During his first year at Univeral Pre-K @ Grant School with daily forty minute sessions dedicated to Magic Penny, he was reading at the same level as his older brother in Kindergarten by the end of the year. He currently is reading at a second grade level and it is all due to Magic Penny and the wonderful ways it teaches the children the use of phonemes. I am so very happy that our school system brought the Magic Penny Program into our classrooms. I recommend it for every school system as a fantastic early learning program!

Sandy, you are wonderful!!! I'm using the manipulatives and the MP Flip Book with the five students in my AIS/MP group and the boys are beginning to understand and give me answers. I love everything!! Thank you, Thank you!!! The children love the fish cards and are so happy they can quickly fill the card, count the pennies left to right and begin a new card several times in each lesson. Besides learning beginning sounds, rhyming and we will soon begin ending sounds, the boys can now count one-to-one, count past ten, sometimes up to fifty or sixty, and each boy is automatically working left to right, top to bottom, skills not automatic to one child before the MP groups. So....MP helps with math as well as reading readiness and reading.
Thank you again, as always, and a special thank you for including the manipulatives and Flip Books. The children are ecstatic and immediately successful! I can use the flip books for a myriad of objectives.

Dear Ms. Schneider,
I wanted to write to you to tell you how over the moon we are with the Magic Penny Reading Program. My son Patrick is in Mrs. DeFabio's kindergarten class at St. Gregory the Great. Originially, he was to be placed in another kindergarten class; however, I had heard about Magic Penny from a good friend who teaches the program in her kindergarten class and had nothing but great things to say about it. Patrick has been receiving speech services since he's been 3 1/2. I phoned the principal of our school and inquired about the program and thought it would be a good fit for Patrick given the issues he had with his speech. Mrs. Freund agreed that he would be a good candidate for the class. Since starting kindergarten and the program, we have seen nothing but steady progress from Patrick in his reading skills, which has also had a positive effect on his speech as well. I can recall that only one month into school, Patrick was already trying to decode words and read on his own. Having an older daughter who went through kindergarten 3 years prior, I recalled that she didn't start reading until January of the school year.
Patrick loves to read. We have also noticed a big improvement in his speech intelligibility. He pronounces his words more clearly and is not deleting his end consonants as he did before.
We owe so much to both the Magic Penny Program and Patrick's teacher for helping him come so far in such a short time. We are very excited at the prospect of how much his reading skills will improve over the next two years with Magic Penny and feel blessed to have had the opportunity to experience Magic Penny first hand.

Sam got a 59 on her kindergarten screening test in May 2008. She hardly knew her alphabet, in spite of my trying to teach her and years of preschool! Mrs. Abbott tutored Sam 2x per week during the summer, and introduced Magic Penny. After your class, she can read and write, and amazing progress was noted after just 8 weeks into the school year. I am still amazed. If you can't add these notes, know that my gratitude extends to the program director, St G's volunteers and room moms, parent readers, and especially you for setting the bar high and helping them to achieve great goals under your direction. I am proud, and very relieved, to have a reader, who is happy to imitate her mom, dad and older sister, and pick up a book all by herself and confidently read it!

“I am delighted to report that when our first group of Magic Penny children (2003) took their Grade 3 NYS ELA Assessments last year, they all scored a “3” or a “4”! We also had 2 perfect scores!” Debbie Staszak, Principal, East Elementary School
